Is the Iris Foto magazine written by ChatGPT?!

A fair question — because it really is a lot of work.

Those who know me know I'm a "DIE-HARD" (English pronunciation 😜) fan of ChatGPT and use the tool daily. Having the Iris Foto blog written automatically does sound tempting.

The thought is natural, of course — that I'd take the «lazy» option and have ChatGPT, my digital assistant, write the entire Iris Foto magazine piece.

Funnily enough, that was the first thing my two ladies asked when I read the first magazine pieces to them — whether ChatGPT had written them, because they sounded «very human».

But no — I've genuinely started to enjoy writing a few lines myself, instead of being active on any social media platforms.

Here I can really let loose and write sentences just as they come to me. And honestly: yes! By now ChatGPT could write as if I'd written it myself … with my profile loaded, it would easily work today (ChatGPT 4.0). It's just the «ß» thing that seems to totally confuse ChatGPT.

Of course I may draw inspiration for topics — or maybe have the odd guest piece written by someone else. We'll see what the future brings.

Why are you also writing an Iris Foto blog now?

That's a very good question — but one I can answer pretty quickly. I can basically write the pieces from anywhere, and at almost any time. I've set myself a lot for 2024. I also want to do videos and maybe even a podcast. But writing somehow comes easier to me — and I don't have to listen to myself (do you know that feeling when you hear your own voice and don't recognise it at all?). When I reread what I've written, in my head I sound much cooler … with a rough, calming voice. But when I hear an audio recording of myself, I sound more like the little green friend from Sesame Street (Muppet Show).

Didn't you want to write a book about the iris?

Yes. Well — not entirely my idea … Dear Rita Fasel (multiple bestselling author — and that with specialist books 😳!) offered me in 2020 to co-write the new edition of the iris / eye book with her. Without thinking twice (that's so me), I said «Yes, sure. Gladly». I have zero clue how to write a book. I just thought: cool — I'll provide some images, write a foreword and a thank-you thingy, done. Oh man … I've started writing so many times and thrown everything out again. Poor Rita. In that time she could have released an entire book series.

But hey — who knows, maybe this magazine is exactly what I needed to finally get going on the book … depending on how much feedback I get on the blog 😜, that's what'll motivate me to finally finish the book. What do you think? Should I do it? Just drop me your opinion — I'd really like to hear it!
