From Iris Foto blog to magazine
Why our blog isn't a blog — it's a magazine. The starting shot for our new website.

With a fireworks display of enthusiasm, we're launching our blog — wrong: our IRIS FOTO MAGAZINE — together with our completely new website.
We wouldn't be us if we simply called it a blog — hence magazine. We genuinely do everything differently from others — not just iris photography.
That and a lot more you'll be finding on our side in this blog — oops! — I mean our magazine, of course.
Why Iris Foto magazine?

Iris Foto magazine
What can you expect from the Iris Foto magazine?
The explanation is fairly simple. I personally find the name «blog» a bit dated — and in my view, it doesn't really fit Wikipedia's definition of a «diary». It's more of a magazine that appears at sporadic but still regular intervals and focuses on the main topic of the iris — or more broadly, the eye.
An article in a magazine fits better. It can be factual and technical, or humorous, or purely informative. That's why «magazine» simply suits it better, in my view.
You can genuinely look forward to it. Some pieces I've already finished (*self-praise) and they really are ready to go. For the magazine pieces, we still have to add the right links to the right spots on the website — then they're ready to publish.
So we can bring in a certain consistency to our Iris Foto blog — oops, Iris Foto magazine — we'll publish two pieces at the launch of the new iris-foto-schweiz.ch website, and then add a new one every week. Until everything worth saying about the human iris has been said (that may take a while 🙃).
Iris Foto Schweiz and the games in the market
There'll be several pieces about what's going on in the market and how to pick the right iris-photography provider. From a perfectly unbiased point of view, of course (#irony) 😜.
In various pieces, though, I won't be presenting fairy tales but hard facts.
With one statement, I'd like to close this topic (at least for today):
I'm not here to play along in someone else's game and hope I win. I decide which game is played — and I write the rules.
Who actually writes these pieces for the Iris Foto magazine?
I'm not here to play along in someone else's game and hope I win. I decide which game is being played — and I write the rules.
One of my resolutions for 2024 was to write magazine pieces regularly and finally deliver my share for the iris book that's been in the pipeline for four years. I see this magazine as the perfect entry point into the realm of authors — and that's why I'm also taking responsibility for publishing pieces regularly.
But you can also help me — yes, you personally can really get involved.
My colleagues will also support me and now and then sharpen the pencil and contribute pieces themselves (or possibly hit the keyboard, depending).
Comment and like feature ❤️
I could also turn this function off, but I deliberately want to leave it on. Comment, ask questions, give me feedback — feel free to criticise me (please constructively) or point out things that in your view could be done differently or better. Feel free to challenge me!
If you're not the type who likes to chip in their two cents, you can also just leave a heart ❤️. That helps me see whether I'm on the right track — and gives me the feeling that I'm not writing these pieces for Google, but for you.
In that spirit: stay focused.
